These are drawings out of my sketchbook. I really enjoy drawing
animals, but have also spent a bit of time studying anatomy.
This was drawn with a ballpoint pen- but
don't be too impressed, my subject
wasn't moving. This was drawn from a
photograph as part of a study I did,
learning to draw big cats.
This is a baby Kenya Impala- it was so
elegant and beautiful and precious,
and only a few weeks old at the time!
This is a Mhorr's Gazelle. They are
tan and have white underbellies.
An African Elephant, in between
pacing back and forth.
This is a baby Turkoman Markhor. As
adults, they are very large and hairy with
huge spiralling horns. This baby was
literally bouncing off the walls and wouldn't
hold still. I had to do this drawing a very little
bit at a time, which is why it's not as detailed.
This is part of a study I did on
human anatomy, particularly the
bones and muscles of the body.
They say zebra stripes are like fingerprints. If this
is true, you should be able to find this zebra at the
San Diego Zoo. This was drawn from real life- I
paid this zebra $20/hour to stand still for me.
